Twenty-One Days

Keurig-Coffee-Maker

Every morning I have a routine. I wake up, I get some coffee, and while the coffee is brewing, I check my email. After my delicious coffee finishes brewing, I begin my morning Bible study. However, this morning my routine was thrown into chaos as I realized the automatic timer had been reset, and my coffee maker was not roaring; ready to go. In reality, this setback only took an extra minute or two, but it was still negatively influenced my morning routine.

As humans, we are creatures of habit. It’s estimated that it only takes twenty-one times of doing something for it to become a routine. What I began to thinking about this morning was how easy it was to produce poor habits but it can be so difficult for me to form habits that truly honor and glorify God. Ask yourselves these questions I am reflecting on this morning:

  1. Do I possess habits that are inappropriate for a follower of Jesus?
  2. Do I lack habits that are appropriate for a follower of Jesus Christ?

Do you need some new habits? It only takes twenty-one days.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31 Esv)
